Tobacco kills approximately seven thousand Zambians every year. That’s close to seven thousand lives taken from families, communities and workplaces across the country. Smoking reduces the quality of life, and the tobacco industry doesn’t want you to know that it can lessen the lifespans of smokers by up to 10 years. Second-hand smoke threatens non-smokers too. Tobacco use is costing the Zambian government 2.8 billion kwacha a year -- money that can be put into creating a better society for our people.
We need to do something about this!
A Tobacco Control Bill has been approved in principle for enactment in Parliament. This bill can reduce the burden of smoking and tobacco use.
If this bill is passed into law, it can lower smoking rates in the country and save over 40,000 lives by the year 20331.Join us to tell President Hichilema to Pass the Zambia Tobacco Control Bill.
